Executive function refers to life skills used to manage everyday tasks like making plans, solving problems and adapting to new situations. Here are the 8 executive function skills defined.


  1. Impulse Control - The ability to stop and think before acting.


  1. Self Monitor - The ability to view and evaluate oneself.


  1. Emotional Control - The ability to manage feeling to achieve goals and complete tasks.


  2. Flexibility - The ability to changing conditions by revising plans or changing strategies.


  3. Task Initiation - The ability to start and finish tasks without procrastinating.


  4. Organization - The ability to develop and use systems to keep track of materials and information.


7. Working Memory - The ability to use information held in memory to complete a task.


8. Planning & Time Management - The ability to create steps to reach a goal.
